Negative experience: Unprofessional & rude, better experiences in other arenas. Wouldn’t recommend

Negative experience: Played a game and booked another game for the next available slot, 2 hours later. Once we had finished our game we sat around the premise for a good 30 mins so if there was any issues a staff member could have approached us. When we came for our second game the staff member demanded we pay for a whole replacement padel as apparently we damaged a padel on our previous visit 2 hours prior. The padel had a minor crack in not done by us, we received it this way from the people playing prior. Once we explained this was not us he kept lowering the price from the price of a whole new padel roughly £60 and got to £5 then £3 the orignal price of hire, that we was going to pay anyways. The fact that they tried mocking us and extorting us was extremely unprofessional and a disgusting act. This confrontation took 20/30 minutes eating into our game time, the staff member had just been doing his job as told to do so by his boss named “Riz”. The staff member was not disrespected and we understand at the end of the day he is a kid doing his job and passing on messages from his boss, therefore we was respectful towards him and apologetic if he took things the wrong way. We was shown messages in their internal WhatsApp group chat from the staff member who had said we refused to pay for the damaged racket at roughly 11:10pm however we was not even at the premises at that time. We did not refuse to pay for this racket, we asked to show proof that this was us then we could pay for it as we did not recall this. We are new to padel and this was our 3rd time playing this week at this venue, We do not recall no smashing of padels or none of us letting go of any during game, so how could we be the ones to crack it. The padel was given to us by the previous people on the court, no proper system off the staff member handing it to us after checking, this padel had been damaged by previous players. We have some proof of this however this is not being taken into consideration. We was completely put off by the terrible customer service, we had been embarassed by this accusation. The messages about us in the internal group was sent with laughing emojis and accusations that weren’t correct, we had also seen a message with something along the lines of, “if they have an issue, bring your own padels or play with your hands” What type of business speaks about customers in this manner. If you can’t provide a hire service with taking into consideration wear and tear then don’t do it. Atleast with a hire service have the correct protocols in place for this to not happen. The manager Riz then had informed the staff member that if we had an issue to ring him, very unprofessional. We asked for a refund that the staff member could not provide therefore we had to ring the number we was provided. Once we rang we had been lied to by “Riz” claiming he does not recall him saying any of this, these people tried make a mockery of us and tried extorting us, very money hungry with no care of customer satisfaction. Riz had no intention of refunding us, he said we do not do refunds, although the company was at fault. Bear in mind the staff member or riz did not tell previous people on the court to finish for us to play, so tgese people got an extra 20/30 minutes into our time. Once again very unprofessional as these people pick and chose who they want to respect and who they’d like to take advantage of. I have played at other venues and never received such atrocious service. I have purely written this review to make sure this does not happen to any other customers paying their hard earned money at this place. Riz said he did not want to refund us and kind of brushed us off as tough luck, he was not apologetic at all and kept the phone call short and brief. He clearly did not care. Please resolve this issue and make sure it does not happen to any other future customers. This ruined our Saturday night, we were made to feel embarassed by these people. No apology’s no care, almost as if they had done this previously.

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible experience at this padel venue. When we first arrived, we were accused of breaking a racket that had never even been checked before we used it. The racket had been handed to us by the group that played before us , meaning the staff didn’t verify its condition before giving it to us. We had a good first game and even enjoyed it enough to book another session two hours later. Clearly, if we had broken the racket, they would have told us after the first game, not waited until we came back for the second one. What made the situation worse was how the staff handled it. The padel attendant demanded that we pay for the entire racket upfront, then changed the charge to £5, and then back again to £3, constantly shifting prices with no explanation. He even showed us messages from the padel and co group chat where they had been talking about our group, using laughing emojis and discussing how to extort us. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Messages had been sent by someone named Riz who we then spoke to. When we decided to cancel our second booking because of this awful treatment, they refused any refund, claiming that our confrontation had already used up 30 minutes of our game time. Despite us being respectful and calm throughout, Riz was unapologetic and dismissive. I’ve played at three other padel venues and had planned to play here multiple times this week, but after this experience, never again. Dishonesty, inconsistency, and complete lack of customer care. Avoid this place at all costs. They will try to extort you, lie, and manipulate the situation to their benefit. Hopefully, this review warns others so they don’t go through the same experience.

Negative experience: Entered the premises and had been accused of breaking a racket when they had no proof or any evidence to show we had done so. The rackets we had used had previously been used by another group and when the rackets had been passed on to us by the staff member working the staff member did not check or pre warn us regarding any sort of payment to be due if any damage on rackets had been done. At first they had said we need to pay for the racket then said we have to pay £5 then £3. This further showed to us that they were trying to extort us by making us look like we were liable for damage. Absolute nonsense and shocking service. After speaking we had come to an conclusion that we do not want to proceed with our game due to their actions and should be given a refund to then, them telling us that they are not able to do any sort of refund which also, may I add, sorting out all this nonsense had gone onto our time 20 minutes into our game and they had not told the group who had already been playing on the court to get off which shows major unprofessionalism and lack of respect for customers. Heavily dissapointed and would not come again.

Negative experience: Claimed that we have “broken” a racket, tried to charge us extra. Without providing any proof. Do not recommend. Terrible service

Negative experience: Went to Padel & Co in Batley for the first time and honestly, I wouldn’t go back even if it was free. Tried to cancel because of the heavy rain but the courts were slippery and just not safe to play on. The ball barely even bounced properly, but the staff kept saying it was “fine” and “normal.” We ended up stopping halfway through because it just wasn’t playable. On top of that, the customer service was awful. I asked for a tissue politely and got a rude reply saying “what’s that gonna do?” Well then, you should keep some towels. And to make things worse, I’ve now got an email saying I’ve been banned (along with everyone else who played) for something that was completely out of our control. Honestly just a terrible experience all round. Would give it 0 stars if Google gave the option. Edit to add: Would love to see the cctv footage your on about especially at the end of our game. Also your staff agreed with us that we could play an hour from when we started (as he was too busy showing us that it was fine to play by throwing a ball against the ground with force which is obviously going to bounce back at you.) Anyways would definitely not recommend.

Hi Dawud,

We take all feedback seriously, but we strongly disagree with your version of events. Our CCTV footage clearly shows that you and your group played for the full duration of your session - and even a few minutes beyond your booking - despite arriving late. During this time, there was no heavy rainfall, and the courts remained safe and playable. Players before and after your slot had no issues with the bounce or surface conditions.

We also want to address your comments about our team. At Padel & Co, we have a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of disrespect or intimidation directed at our staff. Our decision regarding your future access to the venue was made solely based on unacceptable behaviour displayed towards team members, not due to the weather or court conditions.

Our staff deserve to work in a respectful environment, and we will always prioritise their wellbeing.

Negative experience: Tried rearranging because of Storm Amy but the staff on the phone were rude and completely unhelpful. Was told the courts had drainage and would be fine - they weren’t. They refused to even send a quick video before I travelled down, and when I got there the court was fully clogged, soaked through, and covered in leaves and rubbish (which seems to be a regular issue). Honestly just poor customer service all round. If you’re paying for a decent game, you’d at least expect the place to be safe and playable, not flooded and ignored. Edit to add: As soon as we arrived, we paid extra for fresh balls and showed the staff that within a minute they became completely waterlogged because of the amount of water on the court, which made it clearly unplayable. Despite that, you still decided it was “playable” when it obviously wasn’t. You also haven’t mentioned how filthy the court was, covered in leaves and rubbish. I’ve been to the courts multiple times and there are always leaves all over, so this isn’t a one-off. We even asked for tissues after the heavy rain and were denied, which just added to the frustration after an already sub-par court experience. The staff weren’t being reasonable at all, and when we pointed this out they became rude instead of trying to help. While we were there, we didn’t see anyone playing during our booking or even in the hour after, which says enough about how “playable” the courts actually were.

Hi Aadam,

We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your recent visit. However, we do want to clarify a few points. Our team on shift acted fully within our standard procedures and cancellation policy, which applies to all bookings. Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer refunds or rearrangements at short notice, even in poor weather, unless the courts are officially deemed unplayable by management.

During Storm Amy, while the weather did cause some disruption, our staff confirmed that the courts remained playable – as reflected by several of our regular players who attended and played without issue that same day.

It’s also important to mention that our staff reported being spoken to in a rude and disrespectful manner during your visit. They were simply carrying out their reception duties and following policy, and we ask that all communication with our team remains courteous.

Thanks

Fantastic experience: Tried out the new padel court recently and honestly, I was really impressed. The whole set-up is fantastic – you can tell a lot of thought has gone into it. The court itself looks great, really smart design, and everything felt top quality. Booking is super easy too, which always makes a difference. As for the game – what a sport?! It’s such a fun mix of tennis and squash, really fast-paced but easy to pick up. I’d never played before, but now I’m hooked. If you haven’t given it a go yet, I’d highly recommend it. Great for all levels, and genuinely a brilliant way to spend an hour or two. You’ll be surprised how quickly you get into it!
