Stoke Park: Reviews
Negative experience: I used to spend alot alot of money loads of money every year entertaining my guests. When I drove into the drive there was a gate with security not allowing through. Awful real shame as how lovely and welcoming this wonderful location was, plenty other areas wonderful places to go and visit
Fantastic experience: A good time was had by all!
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended place to relax and escape the city life
Positive experience: Nothing wrong, nothing extraordinary.
Fantastic experience: Best place ever had the pleasure of visiting
Fantastic experience: Fantastic course all year but during the summer with limited hours it plays like an exclusive private course. It is in great shape. There were beautiful tee boxes, fairways lined with old growth trees and great greens conditions. Also beautiful water features and manicured bunkers. A driving range with fiber mats is included with the tee time. There's a brand new clubhouse with bar and restaurant with breakfast and lunch, a locker room with no showers, and a pro shop. The bar staff, shop staff, and course marshalls were some of the most attentive and best I've ever golfed with. It's also fun that the property has an interesting history in film as well.
Fantastic experience: Is absolutely amazing here. The staff super friendly and helpful, food is 5 stars and all the facilities are amazing.
Fantastic experience: What a great and unique place to visit and play golf. From free ball range aiming at a Nelson'esc column, to one of the best nostalgic views you can imagine, "Dunlop 7" anyone on the 18th. Great condition, long course with more bunkers than Normandy. If the opportunity arises seize it.
Positive experience: No big highlights, but no problems either.
Fantastic experience: We played 18 holes here yesterday and we absolutely loved it. The course was in amazing condition and provided a real challenge. Lots of bunkers, water, trees and natural landscape that makes each hole unique and straight off a picture postcard. Away from the fairway is quite forgiving as the grass is maintained short and the greens run quite fast. The only downside is there are no markings so we had some confusion as to which was the next hole. A map would have helped. Driving range and facilities were also top notch. I have played at quite a few courses mainly round Surrey and this went straight into my top 3. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic experience: Great and very friendly staff on and around the golf course! Shop, Marshalls, Starters they are all so lovely and helpful… Do you want to know more about Stoke Park and its history? Talk to them!
Fantastic experience: Stayed here for my wedding night! My brother gifted this for our wedding evening! I was told I couldn't arrive in my dress due to other weddings being held.. I decided to cancel the booking as I wasn't going to change to book in a hotel room after a long day. However the hotel upgraded my room and resolved this for us! Most beautiful room and service! Lots of goodies in the room can't wait to come back :)
Fantastic experience: Played this course today 8/3/25. Place is amazing with such friendly golf staff. The starter was so happy and welcoming. Felt like he couldn't do enough to make it better. Even my 9yr old son was really impressed. The course itself is probably one of the best I've played. We had such a good day and would love to come back. Definitely up there for me. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Fantastic experience: Fantastic venue, with helpful staff. Very grateful for playing golf there. And remember to live out your movie trivia there with films like Layer Cake, Goldfinger and Rocknrolla being shot there!
Fantastic experience: Unique place to visit, beautiful historic parkland.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful stay and service see you all again soon
Fantastic experience: Stunning venue. Gorgeous gardens, brilliant atmosphere
Positive experience: I visited for the Boodles tennis, having been there several times before and I was quite impressed with the service and food area. However, this year, the service was poor and the food just as bad. Previously the food was excellent with a good choice. Horrendous queues with only one food stand and one coffee stand. The new owners really need to do better at these functions.
Fantastic experience: Attended the Boodles event here for the first time. Amazing day out, wonderful staffing, beautiful surroundings, and a sumptuous lunch. It's definitely a long overdue bucket list item that is satisfactorily now ticked ✔️
Fantastic experience: Can't rate rooms or service as we were there for the Boodles tennis but that was excellent!
Fantastic experience: Beautiful places, beautiful room big and lovely hotel All it is the best places
Negative experience: Worst place ever. The staff are so rude and unhelpful and they expect you ti wear a mask OUTDOORS!! That makes zero sense! Especially in all the fresh air in 30 degrees heat!! WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN!!
Negative experience: Extremely disappointed, this place is very misleading. Advertised as a park, I get here on my bike to enjoy the sunset and get told it’s actually private property, there are like 2/3 security controls and blah blah… Why in the hell would you need 2/3 security checks for a park? Truly misleading, I hope they change their marketing strategy - to avoid confusing the real park lovers with such words.
Negative experience: It's currently 2.05am and music is blaring with no sign of letting up. A little common courtesy for people around you that can't afford the luxuries you can.
Fantastic experience: Venue we used for our wedding reception and have revisited a couple of times for afternoon tea. Great quality food, venue and service .
Positive experience: Fantastic golf course. Sad it is to close for 2 years. All the members leaving in October 2021. Will they ever return?
Positive experience: In a hotel hospitality of the staff is huge and this hotel did not disappoint. From check in to check out including the bar and dinner staff all were very helpful and pleasant - and mostly very competent. But effort counts and they were working hard. The grounds were well kept up and beautiful. There was quite a bit of renovation going on which took away from the potentially majestic interior space in the main building, but that's OK. At least the painters stopped when we were eating breakfast. The room however was not good. First it was pretty worn down, but mostly it wasn't clean. A dirty spoon with the coffee set up, the bathroom door had a splatter of what I hope was coffee and the shower tiles needed a good scrubbing. The hand shower had a huge leak in it so at a certain angle more water came out of the handle than the nozzle. The air circulator came on what seemed like every 10 minutes for 30 seconds during the night so it forced me to just turn it off. So, staff 5 stars, grounds good as well, unfortunately room cleanliness 1 star.
Negative experience: Security and reception are the face of any company but unfortunately both failed with this business. If you don't know how to treat people you should resign. Definitely they should work on both fronts.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful landscaped grounds (the trees are incredible) & fantastic tennis facilities (& golf if that's your thing). Outdoor part of the restaurant has lovely views of the garden & the food is great (if somewhat ££)
Positive experience: Nice spa service, great customer service in the spa as we had an issue with our already booked massages in advance, which cancelled.
Fantastic experience: Played all 27 with my Dad. Made for a great experience, not just for the Bond connection but for the food, golf and service.
Positive experience: Lovely afternoon tea. Vegan and vegetarian options are available. Very attentive staff. Beautiful grounds
Positive experience: Nice atmosphere in the country club, friendly staff and beautiful golf course. Food was okay though and drinks were pretty pricey, but that’s to be expected at a country club. The spa was lovely and pool was nice too but due to COVID remember to book a time slot
Fantastic experience: Great club. Brilliant staff. Awesome food. Would recommend for the odd occasion out regarding dining (before they close shortly due to takeover/renovations for a good while). Shame to know a lot of the staff won’t be around but what a place!
Fantastic experience: Have visited Stoke Park Spa on numerous occasions for the past few years and every time the experience is phenomenal. It is on the pricier side but 100% worth it! Go early and stay the whole day :)
Positive experience: Me & my wife had some nice food and brandy coffee it was a cold day they had fire pits it was outside
Fantastic experience: Visited the Spa and the osteopath. Great experience. If you need an osteopath and a relaxing, not-clinic-like environment, this is the place and Mr. Grove is your osteopath.
Fantastic experience: A very relaxing setting. We enjoyed the food and the cocktails were really good! Check out the end scenes of the movie 'Layer cake' (Daniel Craig). It was filmed here!
Fantastic experience: Many many congratulations to Mr Ambani, Feel very proud to be an Indian, wish he buy 100 more country clubs around the globe, in these unprecedented times I really wanted to see Mr Ambani and other multi billionaires do something to provide much needed oxygen or start manufacturing oxygen for citizen of India, I m pretty sure reliance foundation does lots of charities, this is the time to step up and save people’s lives, sorry my review is not related to stoke park I’m not a social media person and just expressed my feelings here , I m sorry again..!
Fantastic experience: A very safe and charming welcome. Lovely Christmas decorations. Sublime food as always. Great wines.
Positive experience: Incredible location. Lovely staff. All efforts are clearly put into the meat dishes, nothing worth noting on the Vegetarian menu imo. Wouldn’t advise going to eat there unless you eat meat. Desserts were truly quite small but very nice!. Again, stunning location!
Positive experience: Stoke Park is a little full of itself. The prices certainly keep the riff raff out. The odd thing is that there are still people about prepared to pay! I have played courses just as good for much less.
Positive experience: Visited for afternoon tea, Nice setting and very picturesque. Grounds were lovely. Service was a little disappointing considering we were a large party. Nobody came to ask if we needed anything had to keep trying to get staffs attention.
Fantastic experience: Warm welcome and course in amazing condition. Some very challenging holes and the whole setting is magnificent
Negative experience: We paid £600 for our suite for one night in July 2020. By the time we added in late check out, dinner and breakfast I think we paid £750+. The positives: The entrance to the room was beautiful - a mirrored passageway into the suite, and the room had beautiful views over the grounds. The grounds themselves are stunning and if you like golf you will have ample opportunity to enjoy them. If you don’t, you will not feel particularly welcome in the grounds. Our room was so disappointing. We weren’t in the main house, we were in a modern, concrete building in the car park. We had to walk through the car park (not the grounds) every time we wanted to eat, drink etc. The room was not clean when we arrived, the tea and coffee hadn’t been restocked, there was no milk, the tv wasn’t working, the toilet wasn’t clean and there were no complimentary details in the room apart from some bottles of water. The decor in the room was reminiscent of a much cheaper hotel. There was the most hideous diamanté studded mirror in the room, which was definitely hideous when it was new, but years later most of the diamantés have fallen off and it looks very very tacky. Not all of the hotel’s facilities have reopened post Covid. There is no reception in the second-rate car park building where we stayed, one of the bars is closed and the bar that was open seemed extremely short staffed. It took the best part of an hour for us to be served our first drink. Perhaps this hotel is cutting corners to make up for the impact of lockdown and closure. I understand how difficult it must be for them, but I also wish I hadn’t stayed there. We complained to the hotel staff and were dealt with by a rude and defensive receptionist before being passed onto a manager, who was warm and apologetic and gave us a partial refund. It wasn’t enough to make the room stay worth the money but we appreciated the gesture. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel and we won’t be returning.
Fantastic experience: Stayed here twice for special occasions, once in the original part of the hotel and once above the spa. The hotel and spa is very luxurious and the restaurants are very good. I'd recommend the afternoon tea and dinner in the orangery to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Immaculate golf course with a beautiful building, health and spa centre. Best of all, Goldfinger was filmed here and yesterday they had the Aston Martin DB5 on display. The one from the actual film
Fantastic experience: excellent golf course and tennis courts. you can have a good meal in a cozy restaurant and on a terrace with a beautiful view
Fantastic experience: This place is an institution. A beautiful house surrounded by a truly marvellous landscape. You have to visit the golf course to enjoy the countless views. The hotel, try to get a room at the mansion, is truly one of the greats. Same goes for the restaurant and it's outstanding chefs. We will definitely come here again.
Fantastic experience: This could possibly one of the top 5 spa's / spa days I have experiences. All of the spaces (including the outside hot tub) are incredibly clean and well maintained. Staff are very polite. The treatment rooms and therapist deliver a five star standard. I had a full body massage and it was extremely relaxing. I would highly recommend a spa day/ spa break here.
Fantastic experience: excellent spa, gym and infamous golf but the reason for my visit was the gorgeous restaurant. Lovely architectural features inside too.
Fantastic experience: Favourite spa venue for relaxing with my wife. Staff friendly and helpful as always
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this spa for a wonderful relaxation experience. The therapists gave relaxing treatments; I got the Thalgo massage and facial. Will definitely be coming back!
Fantastic experience: Stoke Park from the memorial gardens. Not been there to rate the place but pretty sure it's 5 Star. They do a set lunch for £20 which sounds quite nice. Some of my photos are a walk you can take around St Giles Church and the Memorial Gardens which are adjacent to the hotel grounds.
Fantastic experience: Amazing spa and food. Facilities superb lots of space to relax highly recommended
Positive experience: Very disappointing. It’s amazing how misleading photos can be! As soon as you drive up you can see how run down the hotel is, it just looks depressing and unwelcoming. Inside the hotel, the furniture is all very old and run down. The scents of the hotel is old, the room that we were meant to stay in which is the best room available, wasn’t up to standard. I can imagine it being much nicer in the summer, the spa is nice and the gym facilities. But value for money, save it and go to either coworth park or Cliveden house.
Fantastic experience: Stayed here for an anniversary getaway and it was everything we needed. We purchased the spa getaway package and am very glad we did. Our room was nice ( just a standard room was quite comfortable and luxurious), had dinner at Humphreys and it was top notch, and the spa and facilities are excellent. We will definitely return.
Fantastic experience: Family organised an after noon tea for mum's 80th. Great setting in the garden room . Perfect afternoon.
Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic time for afternoon tea and then 2 weeks later for the dating menu for dinner. Excellent service and food and would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to have lunch / dinner to afternoon tea at Stoke Park.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful place to relax, to walk around, to explore. The Spa treatments are the best. I fully recommend it. I would also recommend to visit it in Spring time or summer as the views are beautiful. One of the best places to recharge your batteries
Positive experience: Quite a classy little venue nice for meeting up with the girls and having one of those posh sandwich cream tea things
Fantastic experience: We had a customer meeting in the Board Room with Christmas lunch to follow. Fantastic venue and the staff were so helpful.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic, restaurant, gym, spa & general experience. Staff are incredible, always have an amazing time every time I go.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful venue. Great afternoon tea with family, pricey but worth it, recommend
Positive experience: Personal training session in the gym, nice gym team members they push you to achieve your target, great location, main house sometimes suffers with snooty staff.
Positive experience: Stayed here for two nights. Great hotel for children and enjoyable for adults too. The hotel is starting to look a little frayed at the edges and could do with some refurbishment in places. Staff were lovely and helpful. The scrambled eggs are terrible. 4/5.
Fantastic experience: Me and my husband stayed here on our wedding night and the night after. Staff did everything possible to make our stay great. From the chocolate strawberries, champagne and the personalised card. Breakfast good, room service good and lovely room. Much appreciated guys!
Fantastic experience: I visited Stoke Park for my wedding. I was greeted at the door with a kind gentleman with an umbrella, the entrance to the hotel is gorgeous. The staff are over the top kind and try their best to make your day. They will do anything and everything to make your stay happy. I ordered some room service and they were up in 15 mins to my door with a tray full of food and drink. There is plenty of staff in the building all the time and they always go out their way to make sure ur Ok, breakfast is free and they got FRESH Honeycomb. Overall Stoke Park is a worthy 5 star resteraunt. This is 5 star service. P. S. Gavin you get a 11/10 for your above and beyond service
Negative experience: Currently staying in the hotel. Estate is amazing. Service for a 5 star SLH hotel is shameful. Not much can be added.
Negative experience: Booked a room, dinner and spa package for my wife’s birthday. Now I’m told there is a birthday party on site, so no chance of a relaxing meal or sleep due to loud music until midnight. Hotel reservations and management clearly didn’t care and were utterly useless, offering a terrace room as a goodwill gesture. Who can use a terrace in November? They also wouldn’t honour a spa/room offer that is clearly stated on their website, showing zero flexibility for inconveniencing us. I’ve cancelled my entire booking and we’re going to Pennyhill Park instead. Their reservations team couldn’t have been more helpful! Why would you spend a large amount of money here when that is the type of service you can expect? Since booking I’ve read similar reviews of the service here so it seems my experience is not unusual.
Fantastic experience: Stokes Park golf course, what a great place to play 27 Holes of golf. First Class all round, food really very good, well looked after for the whole day. 5 Stars
Positive experience: A grand house with added wings. We were next to lawns outside the gym. Fab place, but no sense of urgency. Having said we needed to be away by 1350 (for an appointment) our food appeared at 1330 - so eaten quickly and therefore not really enjoyed as it should be. Need to be a member to get in.
Negative experience: Over priced. Snobbish staff. But most important of all, poor quality food in restaurants. Else ok. Management doesn’t care for customers, too busy being arrogant
Negative experience: Took my wife to get a pedicure on her 30th birthday. I called up a booked for myself as well to be told it’s £35 each. Went there and were asked to fill out forms and then go wait by the nail section. Service was fine from Harpreet and Deorne. Lovely people. But went to be pay and rather embarrassingly I was told that my wife’s was £50 and mine was £35z. Yet both treatments lasted the same time and when I questioned it I was brushed off with “well it is in our brochure”. Didn’t seem to understand why I was so annoyed or offer any discount for the clear mistake made by the person who i spoke to. We have been to Stoke Park before and found it pleasant but sadly are this are firmly out off visiting again.
Fantastic experience: What a great course. But beware, there is a lot of bunkers to condend with. The setting, staff and facilities are fantastic.
Positive experience: We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of July with our 7 month old and 2 year old. I have been to Stoke Park many times before but this was our first stay. Our room was not ready when we arrived at 3pm and so we had to go to the restaurant and wait there. We pay for this and its check in time and no apology or late check out or reimbursement or anything was offered which was very disappointing. When we did get our room which was an executive suite with terrace it was lovely and luxurious with a paw patrol single bed and pack for our toddler which encouraged him to sleep there. The hotel and grounds are stunning. We didn't get to use any facilities as we really needed to get to our room first which we were not able to. We didn't want not have to open suitcases in hallways to take out swimwear etc. Such a shame as we paid a fortune and thereafter had a wedding to attend. The 4 is given because it is lovely but many improvements can be made to food, service and staff.
Negative experience: My experience was encapsulated at the end of the stay when we were just preparing to leave the room and an alarm sounded. At first I thought it was a fire alarm but then it sounded again after a few minutes followed by a call from reception: we had stayed in the room a few minutes longer than the 11 am sharp cut-off allowed. This was an expensive two day break with my son - and overall it felt like the hotel and spa was all about the money. The quality of the food was sadly far outweighed by the prices ... £23.50 for a cooked breakfast The location is splendid with vast parkland but unless you are a golfer you don't really get to enjoy it. Learning from experience, I will not be returning.
Fantastic experience: If you went to relax just come here! Best 4 days ever! The breakfast is another story of love ❤️
Negative experience: The afternoon tea is quite mediocre! One would really expect bottled water, not tap! And when I asked for a fruit tea they looked at me as if I was from another planet!
Fantastic experience: A truly wonderful spa day treat, a birthday gift from my daughter. A unique experience in the most beautiful surroundings, lunch was perfect, and I found the staff to be so very friendly,
Fantastic experience: A wonderful wedding venue, amazing food, and great attention to detail. Staff were helpful, polite and courteous at all times.
Positive experience: Really should be five stars but let down by service in some areas. Especially the President's Bar where the service was slow, forgetful and surly and also the Pavillion cafe for breakfast where the waitress was more interested in her phone than serving. Rooms are good though as are meeting facilities and food.
Fantastic experience: Great place for a City Escape from London. Friendly staff and good overall services. Don’t miss the spa facilities. Want to especially mention Genaro from the reception for being incredible helpful and professional. Definitely will be coming back.
Positive experience: Had a very expensive cream tea there. Sadly nothing special. Nice staff though.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing. By far the best hotel ever stayed in, not just in terms of the building and how beautiful it is but the service by the staff is incredible totally above and beyond. Will definitely stay again.
Fantastic experience: Great that they have two Tesla destination chargers and two type 1 chargers. It would be perfect if they added more type 2/Tesla destination chargers.
Fantastic experience: The location is very good for wedding venues. Great locality and beautiful scenery. The best Mansion and hotel for all events.
Fantastic experience: The view was bueatiful and the hotel was equally exceptional. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our Afternoon tea was delightful.
Fantastic experience: We loved every minute here including the cocktails, lunch, dinner, room, grounds and every aspect of the service. It was a birthday celebration and the hotel marked this with style. Can’t recommend highly enough and very much looking forward to returning one day.
Fantastic experience: A lovely place for walking and cycling. There are various active play sports through the woods which are teeming with wildlife. Walking through at dawn or dusk quietly will see a high chance of deer crossing your path.
Positive experience: Lovely place, tasty food and pleasant service but beware of hidden extras (would you like some water for the table = £6 charge for bottle of water )
Fantastic experience: Lovely place to walk the dogs in good weather, with structures for the kids to play on. Recently opened up a dirt bike track, with jumps etc., so now the place has something to do for every age, a feature desperately needed in Bishopstoke.
Fantastic experience: It's got beautiful ground provides all the services you need has the best hot tub and sauna I've ever been in. Has car park, has restaurant food and it was nice a little bit expensive but you get what you pay for total satisfaction relaxation and peace you would be needing after a stressful period of time. I would recommend highly to anyone and take a cheeky day off work to go too. Best massage ever and lovely helpful friendly staff. Swimming pool was huge and clean, in fact as a deep Cleaner u can say that the whole place was clean, even the car park was litter free which is a shock when you live in London. The golf course looks alright shame I didn't have time to play some holes but i guess I felt like I just wanted to go back home and sleep when I got back, I felt totally relaxed and still do now, will definitely go again with my girlfriend and have another cheeky day off work! Haha overall five stars and nothing to improve on it was great and truly fit for royalty even.
Fantastic experience: This review is for their wedding services, as I attended a wedding here. One of the best venues I've ever been to for a wedding. Superb scenery outside, great service staff who were always ready with the drink and canapes. The canapes themselves were exquisite. Wedding "breakfast" was one of the best I've ever had at a wedding, and if I'm ever in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to have lunch or dinner at their usual restaurant on site. If you're considering holding your wedding here, do give this place a serious consideration!
Fantastic experience: I lived down the road in Farnham Common in the early 70's and played golf here a few times. Then it was just a golf club: Stoke Poges GC. I am surprised on the website they don't mention one of the most famous golf scenes in movie history (Goldfinger) was filmed here.
Positive experience: Lovely big trees. Good quality 3km mettled path is walkable all year round. Muddy in a lot of the rest at the moment though (April 5 2018)
Fantastic experience: Had an amazing spa day here and lunch. This was my third time and I love it every time!
Fantastic experience: Get away from the "Big smoke" for a day , start off early to catch the sunrise. Car boot sales full of bargains if you really take your time.A tip; bring plenty of change so you dont have to look for someone to give it you...also check the paper money as car boot's are where fake currency circulates ....bring water and a hat.
Fantastic experience: Lots of nature to soak up and activities to find like rope swings, climbing wall and a mtb/bmx track (not open yet). It's huge and had loads of paths
Fantastic experience: Love this place am here every day come rain or shine to walk my dog. Lots of different routes to take and different equipment for kids to play with. Lots of deer to be seen and sporting the birds of prey
